John (Bud) James Hanrahan
John (Bud) James Hanrahan of Golden, Missouri passed away at the age of 92 on March 13, 2020. John was a quiet mannered man who truly devoted his life to his large family. He was loved by many family members and friends and had stayed fairly active in his daily activities including walking his dog Dolly who he cared for very much. Throughout John’s life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.
He was born on August 30, 1927 in Lansing, Illinois to the late Helen and John Wesley Hanrahan. He worked for American Brick Co. in Dolton, Illinois until moving to Reed Springs, MO where he and his late wife were the proprietors of Reed Springs Laundromat until retiring in 2008. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Gloria of 67 years. He was also preceded in death by his sisters June Timm, Virgine Dohl, Geraldine Hanrahan and his stepbrother Larry Straube.
John is survived by his sisters Lavern (Gilbert) Powers of Florida, Lenore (Roy) Nagel of Illinois and stepbrother Tommy Straube of Wisconsin. John is also survived by his loving children Wesley (Patricia) Hanrahan of Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, Arlene Williams of Golden, Missouri, Marlene (Sean) McCann of Tinley Park, Illinois, John Hanrahan Jr. (S.O. Kathy Peach) of Cedar Lake, Indiana, Ron (Nancy) Hanrahan of Golden, Missouri, Natalie Pickett of Lake Station, Indiana. John is also survived by 16 grandchildren and multiple great and great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at a later date at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
