John William “Willie” Griffis
John William “Willie” Griffis, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sunday August 16, 2020 in Cassville, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Corinth Baptist Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears will conduct the services. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home.
Willie was born December 12, 1937 in Van, West Virginia to Melburn and Erslie (Green) Griffis. He married the love of his life, Belva (Holman) Griffis on April 26, 1963. After moving to Elburn, Illinois, he worked for Elburn Packing Company for ten years, and welcomed three children into their home before moving back to Missouri in 1972. He then retired from Efco after twenty-seven years. He enjoyed spending time with family, several outdoor activities and tinkering around outside. He was a very witty and generous individual who never hesitated to give someone a helping hand whenever it was needed. He was a fine Christian man who was an active member at Corinth Baptist Church.
Willie is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters in infancy, a brother Junior Griffis, and a sister Sylvia Mae Hayworth.
Willie is survived by his wife, Belva Griffis of the home in Cassville, Missouri; his children, Curtis B. Griffis and wife Katrina of Monett, Missouri; Rodney Griffis of Cassville, Missouri; and Carl Griffis of Cassville, Missouri; his grandchildren, Darren Griffis and wife Pamela of Stockton, Missouri; Sarah Tice of Mexico, Missouri; Curtis W. Griffis and fiancée Valerie Ash of Monett, Missouri; Michael Griffis of Monett, Missouri; Jerry Agans of Cassville, Missouri; Freddy Chantell of Exeter, Missouri; Dustin Griffis of Exeter, Missouri; and Andrew Griffis of Cassville, Missouri; Ashley Mclane of Liberal, Kansas; Michael Agans of Henderson, Texas and fifteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Darren Griffis; Dustin Griffis; Andrew Griffis; Michael Griffis; Curtis Griffis; Freddy Chantell; and Jerry Agans.
Memorials may be given to Corinth Baptist Church of Cassville, Missouri and/or Hospice Compassus of Monett, Missouri.
