Josenilza "Zel" (Menezes) Fortner

Josenilza "Zel" (Menezes) Fortner, age 71, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri. She was born June 19, 1947, in Salvador, Brazil, the daughter of Jose Torres and Nilza (Lemos) Menezes. They have preceded her in death. Zel was joined in marriage June 20, 1999, to Jimmie Fortner. Services and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Zel grew up in Brazil and traveled the world. She was an artist and enjoyed reading. Zel loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Her love for painting and children showed in her work as a childcare worker. She will be missed by the many lives she touched.

Zel is survived by her husband of nearly 20 years, Jimmie Fortner of the home; three children: Luciana "Lu" M. Camara-Ingersoll of St. Louis, Missouri, Renata M. Camara of Chicago, Illinois, and Roberto M. Camara and wife Alessandra of Hollister, Missouri; a stepdaughter, Susan Fortner of Willard, Missouri; numerous grandchildren: Robert, Amanda, Zachary, Starr, Daylan, Addison, and Isabellah; one great-grandchild, Arabella; and siblings: Mario L. Menezes, Luciano L. de Menezes, Angela Nair M. Payne, Paulo L. Menezes and Jose Angelo L. Menezes.

A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Branson, Missouri, with Mr. Brad Dolloff officiating and music by Pastor Jeff Wilcox and Cheryl Bowers.
