Karen Sue Eisiminger Every

Karen Sue Eisiminger Every, 80, passed away Tuesday October 27, 2020 at her residence in Golden Missouri.

Born in Hutchinson, Kansas she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Wright) Eisiminger. She married Harrold Robert Every September 02, 1961.

Karen was a graduate of Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, Kansas and received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Baker University in 1961. Karen was an active collegiate and alumni member of Zeta Tau Alpha serving on their Sigma chapter house corporation board in the 1980’s. She received her white violet 50-year pin from Zeta in May of 1991. Karen received her Masters of Business Administration from Baker University in 1988. In addition to bachelor’s and master’s degrees Karen graduated from the Harvard University Summer Session Graduate School of Education, MLE Management of Life Long Learning.

Karen worked for Mid Continent Council of Girls Scouts from 1969 – 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri as a Field Director and then for Rockhurst University as the Director of American Humanics and the first Director of Service learning from 1981 – 1998. Karen was an honorary member of Alpha Sigma Nu, a Jesuit Academic Honor Society at Rockhurst University. Karen and her husband Harrold lived for 35 years in Overland Park, Kansas and retired to Table Rock Lake in Golden, Missouri in 1998.

Karen was an active Quilter with the Discovery Quilt Guild out of Shell Knob, MO. She loved making quilts for her family and for premature babies. She had many friends in the Quilt Guild and had very fond memories of her time with these outstanding women. She loved reading and passed this love of reading onto her daughters and granddaughters. Karen was a member of a local book club and she participated in water aerobics with her friends and neighbors at the recreation center in Berryville, Arkansas. Karen was a lifetime Girl Scout with many summers spent at camp. She was very comfortable in the outdoors and had many funny stories about her encounters with snakes. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob, Missouri where she volunteered as a Eucharist and Mass facilitation minister.

Karen is described lovingly by her family as spunky, feisty. Her nick name was “The General”. She had an incredible zest for life, a strong spiritual faith and sharp sense of humor. She encouraged all of her family to pursue their dreams, educationally and career wise and was a positive woman who left her mark on her friends and community.

Surviving Karen are her husband of 59 years, Harrold Robert Every of Golden, Missouri; her daughters, Kathleen Every Darrington (Greg) of Overland Park, Kansas and Kerri Every Allen (Bill) of Louisburg, Kansas; grandchildren, Jake Darrington (Laurel) of Louisburg, Kansas, Kody Darrington of Hume, Missouri, Lindsey Allen of Ballwin, Missouri and Ashley Allen of Louisburg, Kansas; a great grandson, Brody Franklin Darrington and great granddaughter, Mary Grace Darrington both of Louisburg, Kansas and various family including her cousin and friend Judy Hunt of New York. Preceding Karen to heaven are her parents, Kenneth and Ruth Eisiminger of Hutchinson, Kansas and best friend Patty Haskard Holmstrom of Lawrence, Kansas.

Donations should be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society or Hospice Compassus in Monett, Missouri.

A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shell Knob, Missouri on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 5:00 P.M. Social distancing and mask rules should be followed. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
