LaVerne Marion Dodgen
LaVerne Marion Dodgen, daughter of Philemon (P.L.) and Virgie Hutchison was born October 21, 1918 in Oak Grove, Arkansas and was one of six children. She departed this life August 18, 2020 at the age of 101.
She was a lifelong resident of the Blue Eye Missouri area. She was married to Roy Dodgen on January 6, 1940 until his death in 1991. Their lives were spent together working in Roy’s family strawberry and tomato canning business in their early years. LaVerne worked making and painting ceramics in Hollister, was the assistant Post Master at the Lampe Post Office with her sister and part time as a clerk at the Branson Post Office, and also sold Avon for many years. She was always a dedicated Mother to her children and Grandma to her grandchildren giving them her love, time and attention. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blue Eye. LaVerne left a positive impact on many with her faith in God throughout her life.
Laverne was preceded in death by their first infant child Marian Royce; her parents; her husband Roy Dodgen; sisters Nadine Frederick and Exilee Garrison; brother Ansel Hutchison.
Survivors include; son David Dodgen and wife Betty; daughters Judy Miller and husband Joy, Kim Chapman and husband Tim; brother Pat Hutchison and wife Betty; sister Billie Lou Dicus; Four Grandsons; Two Great Grandsons; Three Great Granddaughters; Two Great Great Grandsons; and a host of other nieces and nephews and friends.
The family request memorial donations made to the First Baptist Church of Blue Eye.
Graveside service will be Saturday, August 22, 2020, 1:00 p.m. at the Blue Eye Cemetery Blue Eye, MO with Pastor Kenny Robinette officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home Kimberling City, MO.
