Lou Alice Fae Atchley King Holderby

Lou Alice Fae Atchley King Holderby, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at the age of 93. She was the seventh of eleven children born to Frank and Della Atchley on January 2, 1927. As a child she traveled throughout the US with her evangelist parents spreading the good news of the gospel to all that would listen until 1946 when she married her first husband, Cal King. They started their family shortly thereafter and had five children, Cleatus Calvin, Brenda Lou, Darrel Wayne, Rhonda Kay and Darala Sue.

Lou Alice Holderby

In 1976, she married her second husband, Thomas Holderby until his death in 2014. Lou Alice was employed by the International Headquarters of the Assembly of God Churches in Springfield, Mo from 1974 until her retirement in 1991. She was well known for her chocolate pie, blackberry cobbler, apple dumplings, sweet pickles, pea salad and for loving her family unconditionally. She loved getting mail and talking on the phone to get caught up with all the gossip of the family that lived away from her. As she lovingly referred to her great-grandchildren as her babies, prior to her stroke last December she loved playing baby dolls, teddy bears and cars with those that lived close by and always enjoyed visits from any of the other family members. She was also a master at crocheting and until a few years ago, she made afghans for her children, dolls and animal toys for her grandchildren and baby blankets for her great grandchildren. She loved to read, play games and put puzzles together for family time. She has many trophies from her Atchley Family Reunions for Rook and Horseshoes and was a champion at dominoes when playing with her family. More recently you would find her either watching a Western or a Hallmark movie to pass the time. Her caregivers continued her daily devotions with her each day and we watched Church services every Sunday.
