Mark Lee Tankersley
Mark Lee Tankersley, age 68, of Branson, Missouri, passed away suddenly, Monday, September 9, 2019. He entered this life April 11, 1951, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the son of Ben and Alene (Smith) Tankersley. His parents and his wife, Lynn Tankersley have preceded him in death. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
Mark proudly served in the Arkansas Air National Guard for eight years. In his younger days after high school he was a bull rider. For his entire life he enjoyed following the activities of the Professional Bull Riders Association. Most of his adult life he was involved in route sales, ranging from chips, milk, ice cream, and soda pop. He was well known and respected by the retail grocers around Northwest Arkansas.
Mark had done some writing motivated by his wife, Lynn Carney Tankersley, who was a prolific writer of short stories and was nationally acclaimed. He was a member of the Ozarks Writers’ Guild.
Mark loved Gospel music and found a purpose in life serving his God and Savior Jesus Christ at Reeds Spring Nazarene church. He loved to teach adult Sunday School.
Mark is survived by his son, Jeremy (Kina) Tankersley of Elkins, Arkansas; brother, David (Kathleen) Tankersley of Elkins, Arkansas; grandson, Liam Tankersley; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other family.
Two memorial services will be held: 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 37 Leighs Way, Reeds Spring, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Stull officiating, and 2:00 PM, Friday, September 20, 2019, at Northeast Baptist Church, 2578 Oakland Zion Road, Fayetteville, Arkansas, with Pastor Steve Wireman officiating.
