Mary Ann James

Mary Ann James, age 78, of Eagle Rock, Missouri passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in her home.

She was born January 10, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas the daughter of George and Marjorie (Best) Massey, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her life partner and best friend, Jim Bryant.

Surviving are three sons, Jackie James and his wife Melinda of Paola, Kansas, Travis James of Eagle Rock, Missouri and Jerry James and his wife Dana of Cassville, Missouri; one brother, Bob Massey and his wife Jan of Eagle Rock, Missouri and six grandchildren, Sydney Zurowski and her husband John and Tyler, Savannah, Justin, Sawyer and Hunter James.

Mary Ann grew up in Ohio and graduated from high school in Delphus and then received her cosmetology certificate from beauty college in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1962 she moved from Nebraska City, Nebraska to Barry County Missouri to make her home. For several years she and Jim owned and operated the L & L Convenience Store in Eagle Rock. Prior to that in the sixties and seventies she owned and operated her beauty school called The House Of James in Cassville on Main Street. After that she enjoyed owning and operating Century 21/The Land Baron Real Estate Office. She was a hard worker and worked every day of her life. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and enjoyed attending services and loved her church family. Traveling was one of her favorite pastimes and she loved spending time with her kids, grandkids and visiting with family and friends. Mary Ann truly helped anyone in need and those that knew her never heard her complain.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Corinth Baptist Church in Cassville under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears will conduct the services. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at Corinth Baptist Church.

Contributions may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Youth Fund in memory of Mary Ann.
