Mary Virginia Andrews, 95, of Forsyth, passed away Sunday, October 25, in her residence. She was born on November 16, 1924 in Ellsworth, Kansas, daughter to Harry and Roberta Smith.

Mary’s father died while she was young. Roberta and Mary moved to several places before settling in Walnut Shade. Mary graduated from Branson High School. It was in Rockaway Beach that Mary met Bill Andrews. Mary and Bill fell in love and married on November 13, 1942, just prior to Bill departing for service in World War II. During the 1950’s they had great friendships with several long time couples of Rockaway Beach that would last their lifetimes. Mary and Bill owned several businesses during their time together in Rockaway Beach; Andrews Shady Acres, a 4 cabin tourist attraction during Rockaway Beach’s heyday as a tourist destination, boat rentals, a Dairy Queen, and a miniature golf course with outdoor games.

Mary and Bill had 2 children, Paula Kay and William Scott.
