Melvin “Mel” Lee Bookless, age 79, of Branson, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020. He entered this life June 16, 1941, in Gary, Indiana, the son of William and Viola (Lawrence) Bookless, who have preceded him in death. He was joined in marriage August 29, 1975, to Judith Bork. Mel Bookless

Mel proudly served our country in the United States Army. He worked as a crane operator in construction for many years and later for Union Transit. During retirement, Mel and Judy enjoyed the many benefits Branson had to offer, plus the wonderful Christian atmosphere. Most of all, he loved his best friend and wife of 45 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Mel is survived by his wife, Judy Bookless of Branson, Missouri; sister, Loretta (Kitchell) Otey of Schererville, Indiana; two nephews: David (Laurie) Otey of Crown Point, Indiana and Jonathan (Christi) Otey of Valparaiso, Indiana; and great-nieces: Amanda, Rachel, Meghan, Shiloh, and Shaina.

Memorial services may be planned for a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to Jesus was Homeless (www.jesuswashomeless.org). To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
