Ralph LeGale Wofford

Ralph LeGale Wofford, age 92, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home.

He was born January 4, 1928 in Butler, Oklahoma the son of Henry Frank and Inez (Lobaugh) Wofford. On December 2, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Charlene Maxwell, who preceded him in death on September 2, 2020. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Henry Thomas; three sisters, Bernice Yates, Emma Oliver and Virginia Schwab and a son-in-law, James Dutra.


Surviving are one son, Ralph Michael Wofford and his wife Renee of Stockton, California; two daughters, Lana Beck and her husband Kent and Rhonda Dutra all of Cassville; seven grandchildren, Michelle Wofford of Stockton, California, Stacey Wedin and her husband Tyson of Rocklin, California, Christopher Wofford and his wife Megan of Stockton, California, Jennifer Cathcart and her husband Jason of Spokane, Washington, Joshua Beck and his wife Molly of Springfield, Missouri, Colt Beck of Cassville, Missouri and Naomi Beck of Oak Harbor, Washington and eight great grandchildren, Gidian, Khloe, Asher, Lucas, Domenic, Caylee, Abby and Elijah.


Ralph grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Stafford High School in 1946, received his Associate Degree from Sayre Junior College and his Bachelor Degree from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, majoring in Industrial Arts and completed his teaching credentials. Later he completed his administrative credentials at Sacramento State University in California. During the Korean War he served in the United States Air Force as a cook being promoted quickly to Staff Sergeant. He was a skilled farmer and cattle rancher. His leadership skills made him an effective teacher and respected principal at Collegeville Elementary School. He was responsible for starting up and coaching an outstanding track team of youngsters and was an excellent public speaker and storyteller with a wonderful sense of humor. In his younger years he served as song leader in his church. After moving from Manteca, California to Cassville in 1999 he became a member of Mt. Olive Southern Baptist Church. Some of his favorite pastimes were singing and strumming the guitar. He was a family man and concentrated on his kids and wife first. They enjoyed many vacations spent in Oklahoma and other family camping trips.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.


Graveside services will be held at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
