Ronald “Jay” Hopkins
Ronald “Jay” Hopkins, age 76, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at his home.
He was born December 17, 1944 in Cassville, Missouri, the son of Rolland and Veva (Garrison) Hopkins. On February 2, 1968 in Stockton, Missouri he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Chandler who survives. Also Surviving are two, daughters, Molly Highfill and her husband Kevin of Brighton, Missouri and LaDeanna Letterman and her husband Steven of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers, Wendell Hopkins and his wife Fern of Cassville, Missouri and Jimmy Hopkins and his wife Sharon of Cassville, Missouri; one sister, Donna Guzman of San Jose, California and six grandchildren Brooklyn, Hayden, Alex, Levi, Calvin and Alyssa.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Robert and Darrell and three sisters Peggy McCain, Frankie Vanderpool and Betty Shockley.
Jay grew up and received his education in Cassville and graduated from Cassville High School. Moving to Springfield, Missouri he was employed as a school bus driver and worked at Zenith as a linesman. He spent twenty-five years in Springfield, later moving to Pleasant Hope, Missouri where Jay and Ruth Ann were foster parents for twenty-seven years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Corinth Baptist Church. He liked to fish and play basketball. He enjoyed old cars, especially his old GTO, and listening to country and western music. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old westerns including John Wayne, Roy Rogers, The Lone Ranger and Gunsmoke.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 26, 2021 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend James Stewart will conduct the services. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Missouri.
Contributions may be made to Cassville Senior Center in memory of Jay.
