Shirley Ann Miller Hughes

Shirley Ann Miller Hughes, age 78, of Branson, Missouri passed away Monday, February 17, 2020. She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, May 18, 1941, the daughter of Albert and Lucille (Collins) Miller. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andy Hughes; and two children. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

Growing up on a farm in Alabama, early in life she learned skills of independence, including making strawberry and blackberry jams and cobblers. With her work in flea markets and her husband’s in music, they traveled the United States together. Soon after visiting Branson, Missouri, they settled down to call Branson their home, where Shirley managed Maw and Paw’s Gift Shop on Highway 165 for many years. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, cooking, finishing word searches, crafting, and fishing from the bank.

Never knowing a stranger, she talked with visitors about the Tri-Lakes area. Shirley loved time with friends, neighbors, and her pets: Zippo, Pibb, and Bear. A special thanks to Shirley’s neighbor and friend, Tom Garrett, who also shared her love for music.

No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Taney County Animal Shelter, 255 Critter Trail, Hollister, Missouri 65672. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
