Shirley Rae Luongo

Shirley Rae Luongo, age 87, moved to Cassville, MO August 2019, died at 5:00 pm, Monday, 2nd day of November at Roaring River Health and Rehab, Cassville, MO.

Shirley Luongo

Born July 4, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas, Shirley lived most of her life in Pasadena, Texas. Moving to Rye, Texas in 1990, her career changed directions from a storage unit manager to working in home health care to the elderly while living with her aging mother, Flossie Hirsch. Eventually her and her mother moved to The Woodlands, TX where Shirley became active in the Senior Community Center at Tamarac Pines Assisted Living Facility by holding bible studies and singing praise services for those in the that area. This was her calling.

In 2004 moving to San Saba, TX brought Shirley closer to living near her son, Larry Saxton and his wife, Angie. Many new friends and relationships were made while she was attending First Baptist Church.

Above all Shirley’s personality radiated her love of Jesus. Reading and teaching bible studies since 1965, she reached out to young and old. The capability to touch just about everyone she came in contact, enriched people’s lives spiritually was her talent.

Shirley is survived by her children, Terri and LaVerne Herman, Larry and Angie Saxton; her grandchildren, Irina Herman and Rebecca Howe-Schwarz; her step-children, Krista Butler, Eric Herman, and Justin Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Karsen Howe, Oakley Schwarz, Parker and Kieran Butler, and Taysom Miller.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Flossie Hirsch, and father Beaty Palmer.

A family service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 6 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville, Missouri.

Contributions in memory of Shirley may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 3250 S. National, Springfield, Missouri 65807.

Private family services will be held. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
