Theodore “Ted” Lee Potts

Theodore “Ted” Lee Potts, age 55, of Omaha, Arkansas, passed away January 9, 2020, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He entered this life March 23, 1964, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Everett Lee and Martha Marie (Bowling) Potts. His father has preceded him in death.

A musician since he was a child, Ted was classically trained and graduated from Ohio State University with a Fine Arts degree in jazz guitar. He was the music minister and director of worship of music and choir for the Omaha Methodist Church. Ted was an Eagle Scout and hosted local Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops at the church. His joys in life were taking care of his widowed mother, traveling with his wife, working on the family farm and tackling remodeling projects. Ted touched many lives over the years, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ted is survived by his wife of 25 years, Janet Shapter; mother, Martha Marie Potts of Omaha, Arkansas; sister, Katrina Potts, of Pretoria, South Africa; stepson, Nicholas (Margaret) Shapter of Fayetteville, Arkansas; grandchildren: Daniel Hoskins and Julia Hoskins; sister, Jill (Cliff) McClintock of Nixa, Missouri; and several other family and friends.

A memorial service is being planned for a later time. Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMOC) through the Diamond City, Arkansas Methodist Church.
