Vernon “Dave” David Shaffer

Vernon “Dave” David Shaffer, age 79, of Branson, Missouri, passed away on June 5, 2021. He entered this life on April 7, 1942, in Desloge, Missouri, son of John and Mary (Shoemake) Shaffer. He was joined in marriage to Carol Albers.

Dave Shaffer

At the age of 17 in 1959, Dave quit high school and joined the Navy where he proudly served as an electrician on the USS Forrestal for four years. After the Navy, he started college at the University of Missouri-St. Louis where he graduated with a business degree in 1967. While attending UMSL, he met and married his wife, Carol. Together they had three sons: Scott, Kevin, and Brian. In 1993, after 20 years in Houston, Texas, where Dave was a regional manager for a health insurance company, he and Carol moved to Branson. In Branson, he started Shaffer Hospitality Brokerage, selling hotels until his retirement. All his life he loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and listening to Hank Williams. Dave’s quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will be forever missed.
