William “Bill” Henry Barnes

William “Bill” Henry Barnes, age 79, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away August 18, 2019, in Branson, Missouri. He entered this life July 20, 1940, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Claude and Ruth (Belcher) Barnes, who preceded him in death along with his half-sister Betty Barnes. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

With a love for sports, Bill was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He graduated from St. Mary’s all-boys High School in St. Louis, Missouri. Bill was born again in 1978 on Super Bowl Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Louis. He served as a police officer for 30 years, most of that time in St. Louis and later as chief of police in Hollister, Missouri. Later in life, Bill became a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Branson, Missouri. His great sense of humor will live on in those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed.

Bill is survived by sons: Chuck (Linda) Barnes of St. Louis, Missouri and James Barnes of Hollister, Missouri; daughters: Laura Dusold of St. Louis, Missouri, Chris (Lanny) Blackburn of St. Louis, Missouri, Tracy (Greg) McKinney of Camdenton, Missouri, Rose (Junior) Shook of Hollister, Missouri, and Elizabeth (Greg) Lebsock of Ava, Missouri; grandchildren: Corey, Matthew, Scottie, Tristen, Lora, Chandler, Cameron, Jayke, and Will; two great-grandchildren; and half-sister, Shirley Samsing of Birmingham, Alabama.

Services will be held 12:00 P.M., Friday, September 6, 2019, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Branson, Missouri, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Deacon Daniel Vaughn will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tobacco Cessation Program in care of the Cox Health Foundation (www.coxhealthfoundation.com).
