William “Mike” Michael Hughes
William “Mike” Michael Hughes, age 83, of Lampe, Missouri, passed away April 24, 2021. He was born April 22, 1938, in Gary, Indiana, the son of John and Mary Frances (Campbell) Hughes. He was joined in marriage June 24, 2002, to Pamela Kimberly.
Mike proudly served our country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. He was a 32º Freemason of the Westgate Lodge #332, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. During his first career, Mike was an air traffic controller. This led to a love of flying (and sometimes crashing them) model airplanes. After retirement, he moved to the Branson area. Mike began a new career with Silver Dollar City that lasted 30 years. He was a master storyteller and an entertainer at heart, who loved to be the center of attention. Generations of visitors may remember him in many different character roles including the “Grandpaw Show” on the train at Christmastime. Mike enjoyed living at his lakehouse, where he could pursue his other passion of fishing. Mike touched many lives and brought smiles to many hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, the mother of his children, Donna Hughes; and a stepson, John Botz.
Mike is survived by his wife of 18 years, Pamela Hughes of the home; his children: Deborah Hughes and husband Michael Robinson, Marjorie Schmille and husband Victor, and Michael Hughes and wife Laura, all of Bend, Oregon; two grandchildren, Emma and Zachary; a sister, Patricia Kemner of Portland, Oregon; and a sister-in-law, Gail Boone and husband Nick, of Agoura Hills, California.
